[EDIT] FUCK WE'VE LOST SEVERAL BOOKS:

  • Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
  • Perks of Being a Wallflower
  • Peter Pan
  • Misty of Chincoteague
  • The Virgin Suicides

IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE BOOKS LISTED ABOVE, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Okay, you guys, I did some hard looking at all our books...

hockeysaurus should have three books still.

    I have The Secret Garden

crystalnova and greyandgrey must have like ten books between them.

This is the only way this makes sense. rancidmelody dropped out, but we should still have 14 books in cycle. Unless something went horribly, horribly awry in the postal system? We're looking at two members having the lion's share of books. And crystalnova said she's only got my book as of September. This may have changed, but probably not.

WE NEED TO GET EVERYTHING TOGETHER. As it stands, I'm not getting replies from Chris. And that's fine, but it's imperative that we get books back to original owners.

I know it's the holidays, but the sooner we get this worked out, the better it is for all of us involved.

Guys, I'm calling it the end of the road. Several of us either haven't gotten books or simply can't go next semester. Return whatever books you have. I'll be sending out a mass e-mailing to all the participants, old and new. We'll send these back, come hell or high water.

Okay, it looks like our...summer-only round is set to extend into the next year. We need to know, then, who has what book, and who needs his/her book back because he/she will be out of country and/or unreachable next semester. (Or the next two quarters, depending on your grading periods.)

I have The Secret Garden, and I never received The Virgin Suicides, unfortunately. And I think I'll pull out of this for next semester - it's been fun, but having to DHL everything (there's no USPS anywhere nearby) has cost me. When I was at home, I could send things via the US mail, but I can't here in college, alas.

I've finished TSG but I won't mail it until mid-December, since it's just cheaper for me to use USPS rather than DHL. I'd love to do this again in the summertime, however. Maybe we could pick just a few books and divide ourselves up into little circles and trade that way?

Okay, I've come up with a solution to our bizarre, "I have two books / I have none" problem.

To everyone who has one book: send it as soon as you can. If you can read it and annotate in a day, do it, but if it's a little longer then just stop, skip to the end and give whatever impression you have of it. You can try to skim through to the end without notating, but the point is you must send.

To everyone who has no books: Sit tight, they're coming. :D

To everyone who has two books: Okay, here's what we'll do. If you have two books and haven't read either, note that in the cover and send ASAP to whoever's next on your list. I mean it; don't even try to read it unless you have the time or you're certain it will only take one day. If, God forbid, you have three books now, send two ahead to the next person.

To those who receive two books: Read one as fast as you can and send it along.

I think that should work out. If there's a flaw in my plan, please go ahead and point it out, if you will.

ALSO: I've found that it is cheapest to send all parcels of books via first class. Things arrive in 5 days or so, and it cost me $3 to send two books. So long as the package weighs less than a pound, which it should since these are paperbacks, do that and it'll expedite that part of the process. It's also less expensive than media mail; one book to bribitribbit via Media Mail was $6. And, use a bubble-wrap envelope if you can; we can reuse those, and they're like fifty cents to buy.

I'm going to say we should aim for Monday being our ship-by date. All in favor?

petitecraven brought this comm back to the forefront of my flist, and it's really time for an evaluation.

Okay, comment to this entry with the title of the book you either have or (if you're like me) have just sent off. For example, I just sent bribitribbit The Shadow King and Ella Enchanted, so I'll comment with those books. If you have The Seer and the Sword or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, then you comment with that title. Easy, right? :D

Let's just see where we are and try to orient ourselves a bit before college and school starts in...three weeks or so.

Hey, I haven't seen much from this community lately.  I haven't sent out a book for a while, but I've been kind of in Harryland, and figured a lot of people on here would be as well.  When are we next sending out?  I would like to continue this thing!

    Hey everyone.

So, I pretty much suck. I realize I should have sent bribitribbit my book something like two weeks ago, but between my work schedule, freshman orientation, and my work schedule (yes, twice) I haven't been able to. I realize this is just me giving y'all excuses, but I am sorry.

So, to help speed things along, I skipped reading Shadow King (sorry - no time!) and I'm going to make notes in Ella Enchanted since I reread that pretty recently. I should be able to send both of those to Britt in one fell swoop, who not only knows all of this but also is ready for it. She's been reading Shadow King in a copy she got from the library, so we've at least been communicating.

To make things even better, I'm out of town for the next week and probably won't be back until the 9th or so (it's a road trip, so my schedule is variable). I may be back early, but my work schedule is pretty intense for a little while, so Monday's probably the safest date for me to be "back".

I really do apologize for being really needy about this, but I swear it hit me in this big avalanche and I was like, "AAAAH." Feel free to skip right past me next week if it keeps things smooth; alas, I'm nothing but trouble, it seems.
